Job Description

MediView is building the future of surgical guidance and navigation with Augmented Reality (AR), telecollaboration, and data analytics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Senior Research and Development Engineer is a motivated and well-organized individual with a passion for working across technical disciplines to develop compelling products and platforms that involve innovative technology and solving complex problems. This position requires an individual who has expertise working with early technology paths; ability to work collaboratively with non-technical and technical partners; experience managing system maturation, requirements and respective risks; and focus on execution while providing clear and effective communication to remove barriers across the entire team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:

  • Engage cross-functionally with other engineers, stakeholders, and program managers to develop user needs, design inputs, requirements, and specifications.
  • Develop and support concepts to advance the technology product pipeline (hardware, software, integration, infrastructure, and applications).
  • Work with stakeholders to develop charters, key questions, and risk burn down activities.
  • Scout potential technological solutions, interpret publications and early research, and translate them into proof of concepts (PoC’s).
  • Communicate technology and product strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Project Specific:

  • Must be proficient at working independently and in a hybrid research environment.
  • Evaluate and prototype medical tracking and navigation solutions.

o Develop Pugh matrices for cross-functional criteria including user needs,

requirements, system configuration, regulatory strategy, etc.

  • Develop, set-up, and implement benchtop models and testing for proof of concepts (PoC’s).
  • Development requirements, protocols, and support pre-clinical/clinical studies such as animal, cadaver, and/or IRB’s for PoC.
  • Document and develop intellectual property.
  • Support development of systems to create new and useful XR/MR/AR experiences.
  • Coordinate with team leaders to progressively advance technologies and integrate into prototype architectures.
  • Support design control of applications (e.g. system requirements) containing mobile, cloud, and medical capital equipment particularly as it applies to imaging, tracking, and navigation.

Optional Preferred Duties:

  • System and subsystem integration with XR platform and data flow.
  • Develop data parsing and ingress workflow.
  • Computational/advanced shader (or similar) work to visualize results.
  • Work closely with various internal/external stakeholders to define and execute the long-term technology and product road maps.
