Sinn Studio Inc. is leading the charge in VR combat games! Debut game, Swordsman, is a physics-based combat game where you can slash your way through medieval earth to become the ultimate Swordsman. Having won multiple awards like Game of the Year in 2022, Best Swordfighting Game in 2020 and more. Swordsman also boasts top best seller in Quest and PSVR/2 platforms.


Sinn Studio is looking for a Senior UI / UX Designer to join our team! In this position, the candidate would focus on bringing intuitive, delightful player experiences through the game’s interface. Your focus is showcased elegantly in high-fidelity visual systems, concept iteration, and helping menus/features feel cohesive. Efforts are done with an understanding of usability, design language, and human factors through each initiative. Ultimately the individual provides players with the right information as needed, with ease of use. We are looking for someone who will enrich us through your vantage point and skillset, all in a space where you can thrive.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with UI assets and graphics for game features to fit the visual style: such as iconography, visual cues, HUD, and high fidelity visual comps
  • Reinforce intuitive user experience features for design and interfaces throughout the production lifecycle and any needed improvements to get actionable results
  • Follow best practices in design guidelines and toolkits
  • Help organize UI/UX architecture, anticipating any pipeline issues
  • Create innovative outcomes from UX/UI problems with technical limitations
  • Facilitate user-friendly, emotive solutions by building immersive menus that feel effortless for players
  • Interpret players needs and comprehension, to see how to present/communicate information
  • Develop, prioritize, and communicate product deliverables which showcase requirements in detail (ie. wireframes, flowcharts, feature briefs, and interactive prototypes, etc)
  • Maintain a collaborative, player-centric culture throughout user experience between departments
  • Understand visual direction and consistently deliver on the overall goals for user experience
  • Work with programmers closely to implement feature functionality into the game, while monitoring quality and optimization
  • Help cross-functional teams understand why our users are doing certain actions for shippable features
  • Other related duties as required


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in user experience (UX) and/or user interface (UI) in the games industry with the ability to produce high-quality work
  • Proven experience in overcoming hurdles in user interfaces
  • Fundamental knowledge in user interface aesthetic elements such as: visual design/hierarchy, iconography, and typography
  • Demonstrated understanding of user experience principles, holding the ability to produce low and high fidelity solutions that are both fun and functional
  • Strong advocate of the end user through understandable persona solutions/interactions
  • Empathy and sensitivity to users needs/wants
  • Proficiency in standard design tools such as: Figma, Photoshop, XD, and Illustrator, XD
  • Understanding of designing with accessibility at the forefront
  • Working knowledge and experience working with Unreal Engine 4 / 5
  • A clear understanding of the game development process and requirements
  • Resourceful and self-motivated to take initiative to obtain results
  • Reliable, detail-oriented and problem solving abilities
  • Agile and eager to quickly iterate in a fluid environment
  • Open to constructive criticism
  • Ability to consistently maintain documentation and asset management
  • Knowledge of game pipeline lifecycle with experience working on at least one shipped game
  • Genuine collaborator with technical and non-technical team members for great results and iterative feedback loops
  • Experience with mentorship
  • Able to articulate design rationale and present/showcase work regularly

Additional Information


Salary Range: $85,000 - 100,000 CAD annually + 3 weeks vacation, sick days, employer paid benefits (except LTD), Employee Assistance Program, wellness days, birthday day off, Employee Stock Options (ESOP) coming in early 2024, and more.

As of the time of this posting, Sinn Studio lists the projected base salary range in good faith. A salary offered will be determined upon several factors such as: relevant experience, skillset, geographic location, and organizational critical needs.


Office Location: Liberty Village, Toronto


Work Structure: Preference will be given to local candidates or those who are willing to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area to work in a hybrid model with two days in office collaborating with local team members and our founders.

Compensation

$85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
