The Meta Reality Labs (RL) Wireless Team brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Meta's mission of connecting the world. The team will apply breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. We will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of our contractor manufacturer partners and suppliers. As a Wireless NTI Engineer in the RL wireless organization at Meta, you will drive wireless technology innovations focusing on RF and mmWave research to push forward the state of wireless technologies for augmented reality. You should be passionate about experimenting with innovative RF/Antenna architecture for wireless system miniaturization, and being rock solid competent when it comes to implementing them for production. You will own the cutting-edge wireless technology development and RF/Antenna module miniaturization including feasibility study, architecture design, manufacturing with CM partners, and implementation in the next generation products.

Wireless NTI Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Drive wireless new technology introduction(NTI) and collaborate with cross functional teams to land them into AR/VR products
  • Own antenna and RF design for the next Gen AR/VR hardware products related to wireless sensing and wireless communication
  • Collaborate with ID, mechanical, electrical engineering, and material teams on the execution
  • Work with vendors to explore innovative wireless hardware fabrication process
  • Drive the AR/VR mmWave technology roadmap, develop a forward-looking technology shelf and dive into new areas with unfamiliar RF and antenna technologies and materials
  • Support the design of hardware prototypes and data collection studies
  • Apply signal processing and machine learning tools to analyze datasets

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on wireless technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience in RF and Antenna system development in AR/VR hardware projects (Design, Simulation, Data analysis, validation, and manufacturing)
  • Prior experience in topics related to: antenna technology (antenna/metamaterial design, simulation tools, VNAs), radio-frequency techniques (SDRs, radar architectures), signal processing and machine learning (radar processing, perception algorithms)
  • Proficient in electromagnetic and RF simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, ADS or equivalent
  • Experience with software development in Matlab, Python, or equivalent
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Effective communication with experience influencing ID, product design, and other hardware/software cross-functional partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in consumer electronic industry for small form factor devices
  • Proven track record of applying wireless sensing technologies, e.g., WiFi, radar, RFID etc, to solve the real-world problems
  • Proven to communicate complex research in a clear, concise and actionable manner
  • Familiarity with VR, MR, AR platforms
