Research Intern
Location: Santa Clara, CA
About This Opportunity
This internship will explore the development of next-generation 3D mesh compression methods for video-on-demand and real-time XR applications, with an emphasis on how to best integrate state-of-the-art mesh compression techniques leveraging AI into the over-network media transport pipeline. We will focus on the development of tools that leverage key network capacity and device characteristics to optimize the degree and type of compression to the available network resources and optimal user experience.
What You Will Do
- Work onsite with our team in Santa Clara
- Contribute to the development of new tools leveraging network features and characteristics to optimize mesh compression for XR experiences over-network
- Prepare a proof-of-concept demonstration of internship progress at the end of the internship for presentation to an Ericsson Research Audience
You will bring
- We are looking for a driven, self-motivated student with strong communication and problem-solving skills currently enrolled in a graduate program in computer science with an emphasis on image and video engineering, codec and media transport pipelines, and/or AI/ML for AR/VR processes.
- Strong skills in AR and VR applications development, including but not limited to experience with applied AI/ML for XR content compression, are of particular interest.
- Prior knowledge or experience with gaze prediction is beneficial but not required.
- A strong understanding of mesh compression would be an asset for this role.

Your Pay:
The compensation range for this position is listed below. The actual compensation offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, a combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
California: $53- $55 per hour
