Job Description
Augmented Reality Research Engineer
We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
In our Research & Advanced Engineering team, we're curating a team as multifaceted as the challenges we tackle — ranging from state-of-the-art technologies and sensors to advanced algorithms. We're in pursuit of an Innovative Technology Specialist with a talent for addressing the unique challenges of creating in-vehicle augmented reality experiences. If you're passionate about leveraging your unique skill set to contribute to a team where every member makes a difference, Ford welcomes you to help shape the journey ahead.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
- Prototype augmented reality experiences that raise driver awareness and intuition about the world around them – and (crucially) the algorithms required to unleash these experiences
- Feed the production pipeline as solutions mature, collaborating with the production teams to get new features into the hands of customers
- Work with cutting edge technology and state-of-the-art sensors
- Influence Ford’s strategic roadmap
- Work with some of the top talent in the industry spanning cross-functional teams: R&A, User Experience (UX/HMI), Safety (ADAS), production software, multiple hardware teams and vehicle program
Qualifications
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years in augmented reality solutions or ADAS (specifically with pose and/or localization, data sensor fusion, computer vision, OpenGL-based visualization)
- 1+ years’ experience working with data structures and algorithms supporting sensor fusion
- 2+ years’ experience in modern C++ to solve complex algorithms (exposure to Qt development a plus)
Even better, you may have...
- Master’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Comfortable leveraging Python to quickly narrow problem domains to specific solutions and gain insights
- Domain knowledge in Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors/data/algorithms
- Software development experience working in an embedded/mobile environment
- Experience with 3D graphics/animations/shader development
- Expertise in Linux system administration, capable of configuring autostart procedures, optimizing service performance, and maintaining robust network configurations
- Demonstrable relevant code in a GitHub repo
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
