What You’ll Learn

• Project:
• Cutting-edge research in VR AR optics for professional and consumer applications
• Apply optical design, modeling and measurement expertise to VR AR design evaluation
• Skills You’ll Learn:
• Optical design and simulation, especially for VR AR applications;
• Waveguide design and simulation;
• Data analysis and statistical modeling;
• Coding to support optical design and simulation;
• Communication and presentation skills in a big team
  

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and mature state-of-the-art technologies
• Track plans with internal team members and communicate with stakeholders and leadership
• Perform in-depth optical design, simulation and analysis, using tools like Code V and Zemax, to provide recommendations for system improvement
• Perform tolerancing and stray-light analysis for optical components or optical system
• Determine hardware specifications to assess overall performance of novel optical architectures
• Debug, and troubleshooting of optical problems
• Write code to support optical design, simulation and analysis
• Report and present results to guide design decision
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
  
  

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time

What You Bring

• Pursuing PhD or Master degree in Optical Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related areas, PhD preferred
• Expertise in one or more areas: optical design, modeling, metrology, diffractive or reflective waveguide, etc.
• Expertise and experience in coding, data analysis and statistical modeling
• Strong publication record demonstrating innovative research preferred
• Experience in VR AR display and optics preferred
• Passionate about building extraordinary products
• Good communication skills and presentation skills, able to clearly articulate the problem statements and the solution approach
• A willingness to dive deep, experiment rapidly to get things done preferred
• You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
• An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.
