Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a
Multimedia/Principal Multimedia Designer Virtual Reality and Virtual Maintenance Trainer Artist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL
.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidates will focus on creating visual, photorealistic, immersive content for VR and VMT maintenance training.
- Additional responsibilities will include designing and producing 3D models, textures, simulation, and interactive environments that make VR and VMT applications and games visually engaging / captivating.
- Interpret the designs to the team's artists and programmers.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and Instructional System Designers to ensure accuracy of maintenance procedures and interactive features align with the Technical Publications.
This position is unfunded and contingent upon award .
This position may be filled at a Level 2 or a Level 3 based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications
Multimedia Designer Level-2:
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with at least 2 Years experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Software Engineering, Design, Development, Manufacturing or Production; OR Masters Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years' of experience.
- Although not required to start, Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance to include Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business need is required.
- Experience with Unity Game Engine (SteamVR, OpenXR, or similar).
- US Citizenship required.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Multimedia Designer Level-3
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with at least 5 Years experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Software Engineering, Design, Development, Manufacturing or Production; OR Masters Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years' of experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Software Engineering, Design, Development, Manufacturing or Production, or PhD in a STEM discipline.
- Although not required to start, Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance to include Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business need is required.
- Experience with Unity Game Engine (SteamVR, OpenXR, or similar).
- US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Game Design or immersive technology or similar.
- Experience with Vive, Valve, Microsoft, and Varjo or similar.
- Experience with designing of game mechanics, challenges and level design.
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence).
- Experience with AGILE processes; Kanban Boards and Scrums.
- Experience in a 3D model pipeline CAD-> PiXYZ Studio -> Blender -> Substance -> Unity

Salary Range: $55,100 - $82,700
Salary Range 2: $67,800 - $101,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
