The Eye-tracking engineering team within Reality Labs (RL) Display and Optics organization focuses on developing solutions to enable novel experiences with industry-leading AR devices, which will bring the world closer and empower people to build communities. Given the team’s mission to ship world-class products; high engineering rigor, creative problem solving, and cross-functional communication are expected and broadly valued. The team is laser-focused on incubating winning prototypes, establishing new process capabilities with supply-chain partners, and shipping product subsystems that are designed for high-volume manufacturing (HVM). We are seeking an Optical System Engineer experienced with optical system prototyping, integration and testing; able to work collaboratively across both deep and broad cross-functional teams to generate learnings and identify respective risks as early as possible; and focused on execution while providing clear and effective communication to remove barriers across teams.

Manager, Eye Tracking Prototype Lead, Reality Labs Responsibilities:

• Design, build and integrate early eyepiece mockup samples in the lab for design of experiment verification and optimization of different materials/components and process conditions
• Support optical system building, integration, evaluation, and demo of eyepiece and other display modules and subsystems
• Generate evaluation/testing reports and share the learnings with design/processing team for major build improvement
• Support the data collection and vehicle builds for display system modules such as active dimming and disparity sensing modules with XFN teams
• Develop and build opto-mechanical jigs and fixtures with XFN teams for rapid testing of custom components and systems
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or equivalent work experience
• Experience in developing and prototyping of optical systems with multi-functional /multi-disciplinary threads
• Knowledge of optics one or more of the following: systems design and integration, imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, polarization
• Experience in optical system design and prototyping, including knowledge of optical design modeling, fabrication and integration processes
• Clear communication skills and great team player
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS in the field of Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related degree
• Experience with design and development of optical and display devices and systems
• Experience with the HW manufacturing development framework and different gates/stages
• Experience in opto-mechanical integration and system design
