Japan has become a critical region for the future VR optics, because of its unique technology advantages for optical material, functional films, and precision optics. Within the VR Optical Systems Team, there is an exciting opportunity for optical engineering leadership in Japan to cover our VR Optics, optical system Integration, cost reduction and development of technical partnerships with key vendors in the APAC region.

Optical Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication and close collaboration with Japanese suppliers, validate assumptions and support the cross-functional teams for data driven decisions to support down selection of components and systems designs.
  • Identify potential new technologies & materials from Japanese suppliers to enable our current product development and longer term roadmap.
  • Leverage manufacturing experience to bring up capabilities of product engineering team members for efficient product development from early stage to product release.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry, physics or optical engineering field or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in communication, product development as well as technical and business discussions with with with Japanese suppliers in the areas of optical and materials fields
  • 10+ Years of experience is display related industries and technologies including LCD, LCOS, projectors, AR & VR.
  • Experience and understanding of polarization and optics for display applications
  • Understanding of Liquid Crystal Materials and applications thereof
  • Experience in supply chain management and coordination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Building teams and business development experience
  • Demonstrated history of optical system engineering and cross-functional product development.
  • Experience working with uncertainty and directing XFN teams to manage the risk portfolio at different stages of product development.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
