Job Description

Job Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

Seaspan has a state-of-the-art 3D and Virtual Reality (VR) immersive visualization environment called the HoloShip. This facility supports a variety of efforts across our organization using digital 3D models and developing digital twin capabilities. Through collaborative visualization environments we can resolve spatial integration conflicts, validate and review designs, and incorporate non-technical stakeholders. A digital twin can be used through the ship’s life contributing to efficient vessel design, optimized vessel operations, and integrated performance analytics. The HoloShip is part of an integrate Digital Ship solution that includes a scalable platform to integrate sensors, communication systems, 3D models and visualization technologies.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
