Position Summary:
The School of Communication and Multimedia Studies in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor in digital media production to begin August 2024. The primary location is the Boca Raton campus. Ideal candidates should have research and teaching strengths in digital media production that include, but not limited to, immersive media, computer animation, visual effects, gaming, interactive media, or documentary, fiction, or experimental filmmaking. Candidates should be able to offer instruction in visualization, storyboarding, character design, compositing, game design, 3D printing, cinematic storytelling, digital filmmaking, sound design, or digital post-production. Applicants should have considerable practical and foundational experience in modeling, texturing, rigging, 3D environments, cinematography, digital film production, or game engines. Expertise in virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, virtual production, and motion capture are also welcome. Applicants should be competent in an appropriate range of industry software such as Adobe, Autodesk, Final Cut Pro, Unreal, Unity, or other software used for media production, design, and development. Additionally, candidates should have a keen knowledge of film and media history, theory, and analysis. Professional or industry experience is an ideal asset. Lastly, applicants should possess a high level of technical competency to potentially participate in interdisciplinary partnerships with visual art, architecture, computer science, engineering, and the associated commercial industry. Summary of Responsibilities:
- Will broadly teach digital media production courses across the undergraduate curriculum in the Film & Media degree sequence as well as in the graduate degree programs.
- Maintain productive scholarly/research agendas in line with an institution seeking to move to R1 status and into the top 100 universities in the nation.
- Responsible for teaching a 3/2 or 2/3, research, and service.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA or PhD (ABD) in digital, immersive, or interactive film/media or a closely related field is required by the effective date of employment, August 2024, from an accredited institution.

The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment.
