DTNA IT is driving activities in products, services, processes, and people, all while facilitating data driven decision making and driving business optimization as well as innovation through successful implementation.

As the manager of the ‘Digital Transformation Office (DTO)’, you are in charge of leading a team of experts in innovations and technologies, with a primary focus on immersive technologies, such as Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and Virtual Reality as well as a team of creative experts in video production, photography and graphic design.

Your role is to lead this team to further innovating in these areas together with our business and IT partners along the entire value chain as well as with the indirect functions in Portland but also the offices and operations across the US and Mexico as your primary focus. Since Daimler Truck is a global company with the HQ in Germany and a major segment in Japan, your role is also to build relationships with your global colleagues to find synergies and accelerate the technology adoption.

Position offers a starting salary range of $136,000-173,500 USD

Pay Offered Dependent On Knowledge, Skills, And Experience.

  • Building and Structuring Use Case Backlogs: Identify and prioritize use cases for immersive technologies and creative solutions, building structured backlogs that align with business objectives. Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable projects.
  • Manage Escalations and Resolve Conflicts: Act as a point of escalation for issues or conflicts within the team and effectively resolve them. Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring smooth project execution and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Build and Manage Budgets and Business Cases: Take ownership of budgeting and financial management for the Digital Transformation Office (DTO). Develop and manage budgets, create business cases to secure necessary resources, and ensure cost-effective utilization of funds.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Line Functions: Collaborate closely with IT teams and business line functions to understand their technology needs and align immersive and creative solutions with their requirements. Foster effective cross-functional collaboration to achieve shared goals and drive innovation.
  • Engage with the Global Daimler Truck Community: Establish strong relationships with global colleagues in the Daimler Truck community, particularly in Germany and Japan. Leverage these connections to share knowledge, find synergies, and accelerate technology adoption on a global scale.
  • Mature and Scale Existing Immersive and Creative Operations: Evaluate existing immersive and creative operations, identifying opportunities for maturity and scalability. Implement strategies and processes to enhance efficiency, expand capabilities, and drive growth in these areas.
  • Prioritize Project Intake and Build Assessment Frameworks: Develop frameworks for project assessment and prioritization, considering factors such as strategic alignment, resource availability, and potential impact. Streamline project intake processes to ensure efficient project execution and resource allocation.
  • Formulate Strategies and Operating Models: Develop strategies and operating models for the DTO. Align these strategies with broader organizational goals, driving innovation and ensuring effective utilization of immersive technologies and creative solutions.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science, business, digital marketing or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience of building, managing, retaining and coaching interdisciplinary teams in the tech or creative industry
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop team members, are crucial. The capacity to provide clear direction, manage resources, and foster a positive and inclusive work environment is important
  • Emerging Technologies: General understanding of industry technology and cutting edge innovations and potential use cases.
  • Immersive Technologies: In-depth knowledge and experience in immersive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Virtual Reality (VR) are crucial for driving innovation in these areas. Familiarity with the latest trends, tools, and applications within the immersive technology field is important.
  • Creative Expertise: A solid understanding of video production, photography, and graphic design is necessary to lead a team of creative experts effectively. This includes knowledge of industry-standard software and tools used in these creative disciplines.
  • Business Acumen: The ability to understand and align technology solutions with business goals and strategies is important. You should have a good grasp of the business and IT functions within the company and be able to identify opportunities for technology adoption that can enhance the value chain.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills are required to identify opportunities, develop plans, and make informed decisions that align with the company's long-term vision. This involves assessing market trends, understanding competitive landscapes, and anticipating future needs in immersive technologies and creative fields.
  • Relationship Building: Building relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders, including business and IT partners, across different locations (including global colleagues) is critical. The ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with diverse teams and individuals is important for finding synergies and driving technology adoption.
  • Continuous Improvement: A mindset of continuous improvement is valuable in driving innovation and staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements. This includes seeking out new approaches, evaluating processes, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Political Finesse: Given the nature of the role and the need to collaborate with various stakeholders, political finesse is necessary to navigate organizational dynamics, build consensus, and influence decision-making effectively.
  • Project Management: structuring ambiguous and cross-functional projects, facilitate defining vision and objectives, ensuring alignment, managing resources as well as building budgets and controlling costs.
