VR Design and Production Specialist

Employer

Job Description

OUR COMPANY

SimX is a fast-growing company that has brought virtual and augmented reality to medical simulation training. Our market-leading product is the first comprehensive professional-grade VR medical simulation system, and it is used by our customers to train physicians, nurses, paramedics and other allied health professionals. Over the past few years, demand has exploded and we're in need of new team members to move our product forward. We have a robust research and development department that has propelled the company and the field of medical simulation training forward by executing over $20M in federal grants, presenting findings at international medical simulation research conferences, and translating discoveries into successful products.

Our company has an ambitious and high-impact purpose: to transform the way healthcare professionals are trained in order to take a dent out of the more than 400,000 people who die every year from preventable medical errors. We're a dynamic team that includes a wide set of medical professionals, artists, designers, scientists, engineers, and many others, all of whom have dedicated their time to achieving our mission. We are looking for new team members who are excited about our mission and have the drive to thrive in the startup environment.

THE JOB

As a VR Design and Production Specialist, your main responsibilities are to design and produce VR medical training scenarios and features for our platform. The design and production of VR medical training scenarios will include leading the translation of high-level training scenario needs into technical case flow and design documentation to be used by the implementation team, assisting with the procurement of development assets including high-quality case dialogue, sound effects, medically-accurate 3D models, animations, and medical imaging, coordinating the efforts of medical professionals, artists, voice actors, and other involved team members, and assisting with testing and evaluation sessions to ensure that scenarios meet internal and external standards.

Leading the design of platform features may include working closely with engineers to write functional feature specification documents that define feature scope and functionality, designing the UX/UI related to the feature, creating prototypes, and/or running usability tests. As a startup team member, you'll have a wide variety of responsibilities that will evolve as our needs change - and one of the qualities we are looking for is a candidate who is willing to be flexible and help us better define the role as we continue to grow.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with internal medical SMEs, sales, production, art, development, and QA teams to direct the successful execution of complex interactive projects from initial concept through delivery.
  • Actively participate in the entire production workflow, providing support to internal teams in a variety of areas, including championing solutions that mitigate risk and complexity and providing input to our developers and artists to create new tools and assets.

  • Recognize potential issues and problems, and know when to escalate or propose solutions.
  • Participate in brainstorms by bringing unique content ideas and insights.
  • Serve as a catch-all for any production tasks that require attention.
