The Facebook AR/VR group brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale.We are currently seeking a Creative Director on our AR/VR Avatars team to partner with art directors, designers, producers, researchers, and product marketers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with virtual characters for real time and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative, semi-structured environment. This person must be comfortable guiding teams and production partners and should be willing to roll up their sleeves to do the work when necessary.

Creative Director, Meta Reality Labs, Avatars Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leads on the strategic and creative direction of our Avatars across Meta products in VR and on screens
  • Define vision for creative in new product experiences
  • Inspire the creative team to be passionate and ambitious in their work
  • Maintain and manage consistency of quality across the team
  • Effectively influence leaders and key partners across Meta products to gain alignment and communicate with conviction
  • Partner closely with Product, Design and Engineering to identify opportunities for feature enhancements that would elevate the quality and user experience
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, product marketers and engineers to serve a global audience
  • Direct inclusive representation for avatars across our platform

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience creating digital content with specific expertise in mobile
  • 10+ years of experience in a Creative Director role on a shipped or live products
  • Highly strategic thinker and communicator
  • Experience to work cross-functionally, balance the needs of stakeholders, and break down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas
  • Experience working in a product development process
  • Experience providing direction on the visual and content strategy
  • Has a foundation in 3D characters systems and a proven understanding of technical challenges for creating character based mobile or real-time products. Should understand the steps in a 3D pipeline, what types of features might be performance heavy or require special tools and technical skills vs what can be expected in a standard character setup
  • Experience to spot trends and understand popular culture in the global media landscape
  • Proven presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the skill to communicate complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively
