Job Description

The Visualization Technology Department within the Communications, Information, and Navigation Office at the Penn State Applied Research Lab seeks qualified Research and Development Interns. The Visualization Technology Department builds, develops, configures, and deploys Extended Reality (XR) solutions for numerous sponsors across the US Government and commercial industry. You will apply your skills to assist the research team to leverage XR technology through software development, system configuration, and testing. Undergraduates pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, and Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Job duties:

  • Configure hardware and software
  • Update lab systems as needed
  • Prepare technology lab spaces for events
  • Prepare user documentation for lab
  • Content development
  • System troubleshooting

Required skills:

Desired Skills/certification:

  • Familiarity with XR hardware (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality devices)
  • Software Development (C++, C#, Java, or Python)
  • Familiarity with Unity3D or Unreal Engine
  • 3D Modeling skills (Blender, 3DSMax, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc)
  • Familiarity with Agile development
  • DOD Clearance
