Job Description
Reality Labs is a world leader in the design of AR/VR systems. Come work alongside technology visionaries and research scientists to create the technology that makes AR/VR pervasive and universal. The TED Sensors team gathers world class expertise and talent in photographic, machine perception imaging sensors, depth, inertial, and bio sensing systems, and owns the development and validation for all these sensing systems across Meta’s AR/VR and wearable product portfolios. We are looking for a Sensor Design Engineer who will partner with a team of engineers covering the complete sensor lifecycle. This individual will support the development of high-performance and low-power custom/semi-custom sensor designs for our AR/VR and wearable chips. Special focus areas will include breakthroughs in photographic, machine perception, depth and ambient light sensors, low-power circuits, and power. Your work will also include both design and analog design automation/CAD, in a workflow that spans design modeling, simulations on estimated and extracted parasitics, and validation before and after tape-out.
Sensor Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Create high-performance and area/power efficient custom designs for Meta’s leading-edge AR/VR and wearable chips
- Partner with sensor architects to understand sensor requirement, macro floorplan, power distribution, and signal interfaces
- Participate in and drive technical weekly reviews with key external design partners, from top level architecture, critical blocks, functional models, and RTL
- Work closely with internal and external teams of circuit and logic designers to design through RTL, schematics, and models
- Run simulations with parasitic data to predict performance and power, and validate functionality
- Develop scripts as necessary to improve productivity and reliability
- Participate in process improvements and complete any assigned circuit design task with minimal supervision
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience with analog and analogue mixed signal circuit design, with proven understanding of mixed-signal building blocks (ADCs, DACs, output drivers)
- Experience in circuit simulation and modeling using Cadence, Mentor, or Synopsis tools
- Experience in programming/scripting with HDL (Verilog/VHDL/SystemVerilog), MATLAB, Python
- Basic knowledge of IC design and fabrication processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. or PhD in EE, ECE, or related field
- Basic knowledge SPAD depth/image sensors, including PLL/DLL/TDC/Readout/interface
- Experience in prototyping, characterization and debugging of image/depth sensor IC
- Familiarity with CMOS image processing, depth performance analysis, imaging algorithms
