Job Description
Meta is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer/Product Design Engineer to join their team in Sunnyvale, CA. This individual will work with the Reality Labs organization which helps people around the world come together through next generation Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality.
This position will be joining the Product Design Engineering team, which is currently working on cutting edge technology within the Smart Wearables product sector. The main function of this Product Design Engineer is to explore, prototype, and implement new technologies into functional medium volume prototypes to validate technical and product level functionality, product use cases and tech maturity. You will work alongside a diverse and expert XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, Optical engineers to help push the needle in Wearables technology.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Support RnD projects (NTI and NPI) through the design of systems and test vehicles for new technology introduction studies and technology development.
- Design product components and systems for consumer electronics
- Design electromechanical and optomechanical systems for device testing and validation
- Develop and implement test methods for design validation
- Contribute to creation of technical specifications and product definition.
- Work closely with XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW/, Audio, Optical, REL, Mfg.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional experience designing components or systems for consumer electronics, nanotech, or similar mid to high-volume, low tolerance, electronic products.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and understanding of key concepts.
- Experience using Siemens NX CAD software (preferred) or SolidWorks for product designs.
- Experience with various subtractive and additive manufacturing technologies for production and prototyping: injection molding, sheet metal, co-molding, machining, CNC
- Material science experience with relevant materials for consumer electronics: plastics, metals, insulators, gaskets, thermal interface materials.
- Product engineering experience within Heat transfer, Statics, Dynamics, Structural design, production drawings, and tolerance analysis highly preferred
- Familiarity with PCBA and FPC design and manufacturing methods.
- Data analysis and visualization experience (matlab, python, jmp or similar)
- Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop
- Bachelor's and/or master's in mechanical engineering
