Job Description
At Meta’s Reality Labs Research, our goal is to make world-class consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. Come work alongside industry-leading scientists and engineers to create the technology that makes VR and AR pervasive and universal. Join the adventure of a lifetime as we make science fiction real and change the world. As a Materials Scientist at Meta, in our Optics & Display Research group (O&DR), you will play a critical role in developing AR/VR systems. You will focus on developing advanced materials and devices for near eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring novel concepts through design, modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. We are seeking someone who works well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, who communicates complex concepts clearly and succinctly, who demonstrates scientific rigor, who is unafraid to tackle new challenges, and who works well in high-ambiguity discovery phases. If you are passionate about using your generalist-head to push the boundaries of what is possible, we want you on our team.

- Prototype development of crystal based organics in-house.
- Drive XFN partner collaborations.
- Independently drive deliverables.
- Collaborate in a team environment across a diverse set of disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics and Optics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- PhD degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Organic Physics, or Polymer Physics, or similar field.
- 4+ years industry experience or postdoc experience doing materials science, physics or other related work.
- Hands-on experience with development of technologies across different fields within Physics and Chemistry.
- Track record of research in more than two organic or crystal-related areas.
- Track record of high-quality research deliveries.
- Hands-on experience in prototyping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong teamwork, collaborative, and cross-team communication skills.
- Proven track record of delivering research to product.
- Optics or optical science background or experience.
