Responsibilities

Kforce's client in Redmond, WA is seeking a Software Design Engineer to support the Mixed Reality Head Tracking team. Overview: The Software Design Engineer is responsible for six-degree-of-freedom tracking and navigation for both head-mounted and accessory-mounted trackers. Our work lies at the heart of all mixed reality devices impacting immersive, world-locked, and shareable experiences. The challenge of reliable and robust operation in varied environmental conditions while running on a minimal power budget requires innovative ways to measure, evaluate and test our products across accuracy, comfort, and reliability. This role is ideally suited for an individual who has a background in software quality, testing and DevOps in the mixed reality space or in related fields like computer graphics, games, or scientific simulation. Responsibilities:

  • Software Design Engineer will develop and maintain test apps (both traditional 2D UI-based apps and holographic 3D apps)
  • Develop and maintain DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) with a focus on features ensuring developer efficiency within the team
  • Develop and maintain key tooling related to measuring and visualizing the accuracy and reliability of the system components produced by the team; This involves elements of scientific 2D/3D visualization as well as elements of data science (statistics/data characterization)

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  • Proficiency in languages including C++, C# and/or Python
  • Experience with computer graphics (OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan etc.) and building performant apps
  • Working experience with mathematical concepts related to 2d/3d geometry and coordinate frames
  • Working experience with statistical concepts related to data science (sampling, probability distributions, etc.)
  • This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services governed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); Due to contractual limitations and ITAR obligations associated with this role applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Desirable/Preferred Skills:

  • Augmented or Virtual Reality
  • Working with the US Military or other government contracts
  • Experience with app development in Unity
  • Experience with computer vision/machine learning

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.

Salary: $60 - $68 per hour
