Meta Reality Labs (RL) is developing future products in Virtual and Augmented Reality with breakthrough work in computer vision and machine learning that will enable groundbreaking experiences for consumers and businesses. We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will define and drive highly complex, cross-functional SW releases across the stack (OS/FW/Apps/Cloud) for Reality Labs VR Product line. This role will have the opportunity to work closely with world-class development teams and leaders across the organization to bring together multiple technologies, delivering trustworthy experiences into Meta products (such as Quest, Quest Pro, Ray-Ban Stories, etc). Our teams work on technologies that span across OS, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and user facing software to create experiences that millions of our customers love.


Technical Program Manager, VR Software Releases Responsibilities:


  • Create and establish the process, mechanism and controls to manage high velocity and high quality Software releases for our VR product line (Quest, Quest Pro).
  • Develop and manage cross-functional programs, facilitating relationships across multiple teams to identify risks, manage dependencies and optimize resources.
  • Drive visibility, accountability, and execution across their areas of software development for the organization.
  • Understand technology stack and roadmap, technical challenges, business needs, and develop a plan for mitigating risks and delivering features that delight our customers.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment, drive impact through deployment of key initiatives and garner adoption of those processes.
  • Establish expertise in an area, becoming the go-to escalation point for execution, leader for driving visibility across the program, and orchestrator for managing the integration across your program area.
  • Drive technical excellence within the team, coordinating and contributing to engineering deliverables including architectural diagrams, specifications, launch criteria, and test plans.
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience to lead execution across highly ambiguous, complex products and programs, with experience to make technical and product tradeoffs balancing business needs and technical constraints.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving experience with large-scale and highly complex systems.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager (or equivalent experience) managing software programs from inception to launch.
  • Effective communicator who can translate high-level goals into tangible action plans (and vice-versa). Expertise in communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering technical programs or products from inception to delivery and end of life.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multi-disciplinary teams, demonstrating thought leadership.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Eye for detail and relentless interest to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Experience managing a technology area across multiple generations of consumer electronic devices based on AOSP.
  • Demonstrated obsession on customer experiences and analysis of issues that may impact quality.
  • Knowledge of software and hardware development and product development processes and best practices.
  • Experience shipping consumer device software/developer APIs.
  • Experience in scaling platforms and people for large scale growth.
