The Role: Live Augmentation Specialist

Second Spectrum is seeking a Live Augmentation Specialist to join our team and help us operate products in a variety of leagues for media organizations around the world. We run both hardware and cloud based solutions so ideal candidates should have experience working in both types of environments. This is a hybrid role located in the Los Angeles area and could expect a few days a week in our Downtown LA office. Specific schedule and days in office will depend on client deliveries. Some travel to client sites may be required.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • Operate and manage both on premise hardware and cloud based video pipelines for our live video augmentation system
  • Troubleshoot incoming and outgoing video and audio feeds, metadata (including ad markers, closed captioning, live player tracking, game clock, etc) and live augmentations
  • Run testing and simulations when releasing updates and features
  • Operate independently and be responsible for entire deliveries including client communication and issue resolution.
  • Work with engineering to propose new features and improvements to current systems
What You Have
  • Experience with live video formats and specifications, familiar with live encoders and streaming protocols.
  • Understanding of traditional and IP video transmission protocols and video signal flow.
  • Experience operating and building live media workflows in the cloud.
  • Experience in a control room and working within a live production environment
  • Schedule flexibility and availability to work a sports based events schedule including regular night and weekend days throughout a season; schedule will be decided based on event schedules and will change based on season

  • Excited about changing technologies, learning new workflows and desire to suggest and build improvements.
  • Interested in sports, analytics and broadcast technology.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently during events making decisions and communicate those decisions to clients
  • Experience managing operators or freelance event staff

The base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 There are a number of factors which affect what the specific pay offer would be for this role, including location, seniority, and relevant educational and working experience. This is base salary only – all full-time roles will also be eligible to take part in Second Spectrum benefits and equity plan, and some roles may be eligible to take part in a bonus plan.
