We are seeking a Mixed Methods UX Researcher (AR/VR) on a contract basis to conduct research with Augmented Reality (AR) consumers and creators. The ideal candidate will join the Research Team that advocates for users, and arms the product teams with the insights and inspiration they need to build with confidence. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer's Los Angeles or Burlingame, CA location.


What You'll Do


  • Work closely with the product teams to build better features for AR creators
  • Help to evaluate sets of features on a regular basis by implementing standard processes for understanding usability and the readiness for the market of various features
  • Run a regular program of research to investigate the usability of new proposed designs and features, working closely with product designers and cross-functional stakeholders to support tactical product-centric work
  • Seek out impact and ruthlessly prioritize one's own workload, with guidance and support from the manager


Must-Haves


  • 4+ years of experience in research for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), information systems, or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in the industry
  • Mixed methods researchers with broad skills in design research methods, and a good understanding of basic quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g. surveys, in-depth interviews, usability testing) are preferred, but Qualitative researchers will be considered
  • Experience working on research for digital product innovation
  • Experience conducting research for emerging early-stage technologies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Deep knowledge of digital design and design research
  • Ability to work independently
  • Passion for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality (AR/VR/MR)
  • Experience researching in the areas of AR/VR/MR preferred, but not required
  • Experience in conducting impactful research to steer digital products, especially if related to AR/VR/MR, is a plus
  • Ability to conduct interviews and construct discussion guides
  • Ability to put together surveys
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in the industry


Education


  • A Bachelor's degree, ideally in a human behavior-related field (HCI, Psychology, Social Science, Information Science, etc.) is required


Hours & Location:


  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer's Los Angeles or Burlingame, CA location.
