The Qualcomm XR Research San Diego team is rapidly expanding and seeking innovators who will create the new digital world. To scale and strengthen our offering, the Qualcomm XR Perception team in San Diego is seeking candidates to investigate and develop the fundamental perception algorithms that enable self-contained XR platforms. We are looking for innovators who will push the boundaries of mobile perception technology to offer a robust platform to our customers.

We are creating the next generation of Perception algorithms for XR devices that are optimized across hardware and software. In this role you will help develop cutting edge Perception algorithms that are fundamental to and 6DoF XR experience. Work with future XR devices ahead of their market introduction and help us “wow” the developer community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).

Job Function / General Responsibilities
  • Work with building blocks of Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)
  • Visual Inertial Odometry
  • Multi-view geometry
  • Sensor Fusion
  • Pose estimation
  • Non-linear optimization
  • Apply ML/ DL techniques to enhance accuracy and robustness of traditional SLAM systems
  • Implement and validate efficient and optimized algorithms in C++
  • Understand and analyze requirements for perception systems for XR platforms
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Candidate that fits this role would be well versed in the basics of:
  • Linear algebra

  • Sensor fusion
  • Estimation techniques
  • Non-linear optimization
  • Machine learning techniques
  • Object oriented programming in C++

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).

Pay Range

$114,500.00 - $171,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
