UX Researcher III
Location: Onsite (Burlingame-preferred/Seattle)
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Description:
As a UX Researcher on emerging products in the augmented reality and virtual reality space, you will have the opportunity to work with teams conceiving, building and launching brand new products. Research is paramount to this organizations success - formative research is needed to identify the right latent needs or problems in the world to tackle with product solutions, iterative design research is needed to mold early product ideas into testable prototypes, and creative evaluative research is needed to improve and prepare those products for market.
For this position, we are looking for a mixed-methods generalist, with broad skills in qualitative and design research methods and an understanding of quantitative concepts. We seek someone to establish a strong user research presence, including tactical research to help guide specific product choices to more foundational research to help us continue to build up our knowledge base for future products.
The right candidates will be excellent communicators, knowledgeable about UI design, passionate about social computing, comfortable in a flat, fast moving organization, excited to collaborate, and focused squarely on impacting design at Client.
Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with product teams to define and conduct impactful research
Collaboratively and independently develop and execute research roadmaps
Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes
Lead various research studies throughout all the phases of the product development cycle
Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods, such as surveys
Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
Contribute to product strategy, execution and go-to-market plan
Work cross-functionally with design, product management, research scientists, content strategy, engineering, and marketing
Communicate results and illustrate recommendations in compelling and creative ways
Skills:
Strong ability to work independently and manage ones time.
Experience with data and utilizing numbers to define and support hypotheses
Experience with storytelling to get traction with various audience
Experience with autonomy and decision making to balance demands
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and interpersonal skills.
Minimum qualifications:
3+ years' experience in HCI, information systems, or related field or MS/PhD in communication, information science, human-computer interaction, psychology, media studies, linguistics, anthropology, sociology, market research or a related field
Experience working on emerging early-stage technologies and product innovation
Preferred qualifications:
BA/BS in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics
Masters/PhD
Supplier notes:
Candidate must have concrete experience in 0-to-1 product space, ideally related to AR/VR/3D
Experience at other large companies would be a plus
Education is a hard requirement
Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
-Key research docs,
-Useability evalutations
-Inspection methods- cogitative walk throughs, comfort with generative and evaluative research
Good to have skills:
-Communication, strong story telling skills
-Higher educations levels- masters or PhD would be nice
