Expected compensation: $71.00 - $82.00 per hour


HireArt is helping the world's largest social network find an experienced UX Researcher (Mixed Methods) to work with teams conceiving, building and launching brand new products in the augmented reality and virtual reality space.


In this role, research is paramount to identify the right latent needs/problems to tackle with product solutions, iterative design research is needed to mold early product ideas into testable prototypes and creative evaluative research is needed to improve and prepare those products for market.


The ideal candidate has Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years experience working on emerging early-stage technologies and product innovation. We're looking for someone with key research docs and usability evaluations experience. Proactivity, flexibility and strong communication are required.


As a UX Researcher (Mixed Methods), You'll


  • Work closely with product teams to define and conduct impactful research.
  • Collaboratively and independently develop and execute research roadmaps.
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.
  • Lead various research studies throughout all the phases of the product development cycle.
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods, such as surveys.
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.
  • Contribute to product strategy, execution and the go-to-market plan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. design, product management, research scientists, content strategy, engineering and marketing).
  • Communicate results and illustrate recommendations in compelling and creative ways.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics (Master's/PhD is preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in HCI, information systems or related field or MS/PhD in communication, information science, human-computer interaction, psychology, media studies, linguistics, anthropology, sociology, market research or a related field
  • Key research docs experience
  • Usability evaluations experience
  • Inspection methods (cogitative walk throughs, comfort with generative and evaluative research)
  • Experience working on emerging early-stage technologies and product innovation
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Experience with data and utilizing numbers to define and support hypotheses
  • Experience with storytelling to get traction with various audience
  • Experience with autonomy and decision making to balance demands
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills

Commitment:This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This position will be onsite and available to candidates local to the Burlingame, CA and Seattle, WA areas.
