Job Description
At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Silicon Design Engineer to join our Hardware Research Engineering team, whose mission is to design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad set of experiences, including analog/mixed signal design, experience interfacing with high-speed and digital design engineers, and the ability to partner with external vendors on complex, long-term silicon design projects. They should have experience working with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, with tolerance for a high degree of ambiguity.
Analog/Mixed-Signal Silicon Designer Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with RLR researchers, system-engineers, digital and electrical engineers as well as silicon design engineers and vendors to determine requirements and specifications, integration challenges as well as high-level system trade-offs
- Design and evaluate analog and mixed-signal circuit for complex systems, including laser drivers and sensor/display interfaces
- Collaborate in a team environment across engineering disciplines
- Transforming ambiguous requests and vendor reference designs into working custom solutions
- Review the design collaterals of the current silicon devices from external partners (ERS, datasheets, design and architecture reviews) to provide feedback, as well as scope, initiate and drive next-gen silicon design programs with external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Understanding of analog circuit design fundamentals and power optimization
- Experience in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience in Analog/Mixed-Signal IC design
- Proficiency in CAD design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre and system-level behavioral modeling environments such as Matlab/Simulink, Verilog, VerilogA
- Experience in designing mixed-signal circuits such as analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital-to-analog converters (DAC)
- Experience defining requirements, working independently, managing priorities and cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with laser drivers and high-voltage CMOS design
- Familiarity with VR/AR systems or wearable low-power or portable electronic devices
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Analog Mixed Signal design
- 7+ years of experience in Analog/Mixed-Signal IC design
