Q Analysts (A Qualitest Company) is looking for a Platform Test Engineer for our client in Mountain View, CA. The Platform Test Engineer will support product development teams, engineering, and QA to build and extend End-to-End integration testing and to identify and automate manual tests to improve product performance and the efficiency of test execution cycles. We are looking for a seasoned professional with good attention to detail, good follow through, and a can-do attitude coupled with a background in system testing and test tools development. Previous experience with audio-visual systems, video telecommunication, or unified communications is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support building and extending an automated E2E integration test system for custom hardware
  • Writing software to automate performance characterization tests to help us catch performance regressions quickly and track it over time
  • Work with the QA team to help identify manual QA tests that can be automated and write software to automate such tests
  • Debug and understand regressions, work with Software teams toidentify root cause and facilitate a fix
  • Facilitate regular (weekly) release by ensuring stability through automated tests. Work closely with the QA team on signing off releases
  • Understand logs produced by the system, and be able to parse it (manually and through custom scripts and tools) to facilitate writing better tests and root cause analysis
  • Write high-quality code, passing readability and unit testing standards


Requirements:

  • Proficient in Python: Required to write test cases and to write tools to process logs etc.
  • Bash Scripting: Being able to write some basic Bash/Shell scripts to run automate certain tasks.
  • Linux Command Line Interface: our custom hardware is based on Linux, so knowing your way around the Linux Shell and command line environment is a must.
  • Comfortable with E2E HW/SW integration testing
  • Our systems are based on Linux PCs and have custom hardware and software setups. Candidates must be comfortable around such systems, be excited to learn fast and don't shy away from asking the right questions.

Nice to Have

  • Continuous Build & Release systems: A plus if the candidate is familiar with continuous build and release systems and is comfortable operating in such environments, especially E2E Hardware in the loop testing.
  • Linux Software Management: Knowing how to deploy and install software on Linux is a plus (e.g. using the Ubuntu package manager tools: apt, dpkg).
