This is the team that brings to life the seemingly impossible requests from the worlds best content creators. These creators are constantly pushing the limits of production technology. Terms like “Best-in-Class”, “State-of-the-art” or “Standard” are never good enough.
If you excel at working in scrappy, startup minded, teams that embraces a "fail fast & often” approach to tools development, then this is the place for you. If supporting and advancing the bleeding edge of high-availability, professional capture tools at the intersection of art and technology is what drives you, this is the opportunity you’ve been working towards.
The Engineer will have a seat at the table during the content production and tools planning process. This direct access to stakeholders will guide and influence current and future R&D efforts. The Engineer will have wide latitude to explore, learn, test and implement new technologies and workflows with few restrictions.
THE ENGINEERS “NORMAL DAY AT THE OFFICE” WILL INCLUDE:
- Conducting component validation tests on parts received from vendors.
- Improving and streamlining optical & image profiling processes and systems.
- Organizing x-functional exchanges with other imaging and metrology teams across Apple to promote knowledge transfer and innovation opportunities
- Researching and prototyping new systems to support the teams broader product roadmap.
- Maintaining the calibration and performance of multiple captures systems after repeated usage cycles.
Education & Experience
B.A./ B.S. or equivalent experience.
Additional Requirements
- Prior experience working with and testing non-scientific image capture systems used in underwater, aerial, harsh environments and cinema & television production.
- Familiarity with typical video and audio recording formats commonly found in the cinematic or live broadcast industry. (ProRes, EXR, TIFF, etc.)
- Basic electrical engineering or “Maker style” prototyping experience. (Arduino, 3D printing, breadboards, servo control, sensor data capture, etc.)
- Familiarity with video transport protocols and interfaces like SMPTE-2110 and SDI.
- Experience using standard office productivity and communication tools. (Monday, Confluence, Keynote, Excel, PowerPoint, Omnigraffle, Vizio, Word, etc.)
