Position Overview

Virtual and augmented reality are transforming design and creation through new immersive and collaborative experiences that will impact how major segments like entertainment, architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing converge. The industry is being transformed by XR technology growth, creating new ways of working to review, collaborate and create.

As a Principal Full-Stack Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for building and delivering XR workflows to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry (AEC). This multi-disciplinary team is operating in a start-up mode within Autodesk with autonomy on product of course, but also sales, strategy, marketing, and operations. In this role, you will develop new Web Workflows and will be reporting to the XR Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the product manager, the experience designers and other software developers to do research, implement proof of concepts, and build our web frontend. This includes user interaction and software solutions
  • Implement the frontend stack for our workflows, connected to the Autodesk platform and tools, and our XR applications
  • Navigate and integrate legacy Frontend systems
  • Develop new tools and applications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or similar
  • 8+ years' experience in software development
  • Experience with full stack models, services, and cloud deployment
  • Proficiency in Javascript and Typescript
  • Proficiency in React.js
  • Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS
  • Experience using REST APIs
  • Experience with real-time communication using technologies like WebSockets
  • Experience with Electron or Tauri
  • Comfortable with AWS, specifically services like S3
  • Git, Github knowledge
  • Experience in an agile development environment
  • Ability to work in a start-up fashion even within a big company (things will move fast)
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to travel to the US or Canada twice per year
  • Full professional proficiency in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
  • Experience with 3D web technologies like ThreeJS
  • Proficiency in Tauri
  • Experience with Databases (SQL and noSQL)
  • Experience with Docker
  • Basic game engine experience
  • Basic experience with AR, VR and MR
  • Jenkins, Travis, or other CI/CD system knowledge

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,200 and $212,300. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
