General Summary

Qualcomm’s Visual Technology Team is seeking an XR systems Engineer to analyze and develop solutions for cutting edge Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality display and optics solutions. A successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Linux display driver development for custom prototype displays.
  • Hands on debugging of experimental prototypes using DMM, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer.
  • Innovate new techniques and procedures for measuring prototype display performance using optical metrology equipment and customized high-speed cameras.
  • Developing proof of concept implementations in collaboration with domain experts, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Analyzing and understanding XR hardware and software systems operating in resource and power constrained mobile environments.
  • Coordinating and contributing to the development of use cases, requirements, and system specifications.
  • Writing high level system design documents and feature descriptions.
  • Delivering proven designs into commercial products.

Preferred Skills And Experience
  • 4+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • 2+ years professional experience in multimedia technology areas such as augmented/virtual reality, sensing, imaging, displays, computer graphics, computer vision, cameras, biometrics, speech, and audio.
  • Highly proficient with C/C++ on Linux and Android systems
  • Familiar with MIPI DSI protocol.
  • Familiar with standard embedded HW interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, UART
  • Track record of automated, test-driven development and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills within cross-functional teams designing complex products.
  • System performance analysis and KPI generation for commercial products informing product design.
  • Proficiency with one or more scripting languages for prototyping, analysis, and automation.
  • System understanding of XR specific use cases and technologies such as low-latency architectures, split-processing architectures, reprojection/warping, head/eye/body tracking, environmental reconstruction, video see-through mixed reality, and spatial codecs.
  • Design and development of commercial software products for AR or VR head mounted systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).

Pay Range

$114,500.00 - $171,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
