General Summary

Qualcomm’s Visual Technology Team is seeking a XR Graphics Systems Engineers to design and optimize advanced rendering, composition, and reprojection solutions for Snapdragon Augmented and Virtual Reality platforms. This is a hands-on role working with novel display systems. A successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Analyzing, design, and optimize graphics techniques for 3D composition and reprojection at low latency on power and processing constrained XR platforms
  • Developing models and KPIs analyzing XR rendering pipelines
  • Developing proof of concept implementations in collaboration with domain experts, internal teams, and external partners
  • Performing system tracing to identify XR specific constraints and verifying potentially innovative new solutions leveraging Snapdragon chipsets and platforms
  • Coordinating and contributing to the development of use cases, requirements, and system specifications.
  • Writing high level system design documents and feature descriptions
  • Delivering proven designs into commercial products

Preferred Skills And Experience
  • 7+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience
  • 5+ years professional computer graphics experience designing and developing 3D rendering software solutions at the graphics API or GPU driver layers
  • 5+ years combined experience developing software with OpenGL, GLES, Vulkan, GLSL, and SPIR-V
  • Virtual and augmented reality design concepts including low-latency architectures, split-processing architectures, reprojection techniques, head/eye/body tracking, prediction, environmental reconstruction, video see-through mixed reality, depth data, motion vectors, and spatial codecs
  • Experience developing with XR hardware platforms and head mounted devices
  • Professional experience designing and developing for embedded Linux platforms. Android and Adreno GPU experience a plus
  • Experience quantitatively assessing hardware implementation requirements for algorithms and algorithm adaptation
  • Excellent communication skills with cross-functional teams designing complex products
  • System design and performance analysis on commercial products across multiple release cycles
  • GPU and CPU sub-system architecture, coprocessor interfaces, HW/SW partitioning, smart DMAs, HW compression
  • C/C++ and Python

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).

Pay Range

$156,500.00 - $234,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
