The candidate will be working within HNTB’s Digital Innovation Group as a part of the Immersive Media Solutions team that focus heavily on the integration of Extended Reality (XR) technologies to deliver unique 3D-xD visualization experiences for HNTB’s Clients, Public Engagement, and advancement of 3D media to support Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) requirements. As part of this team, the Immersive Media Specialist’s primary duties will be to integrate gaming engine technologies into the workflows, processes, and tools used to create deliverables such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), Real-time Gaming environments for Desktop, Web, Wearables, Renderings and Animations. This position requires the ability to work with other Media Specialists & Technologists within the team to develop and deliver advanced Immersive Media for large transportation infrastructure project types including; civil road and bridge, architectural, rail, transit, tolling and aviation.
What You’ll Do
- Develops or customizes complex geospatial applications using comprehensive geospatial knowledge, project requirements and an understanding of client needs.
- Assists client in determining survey and mapping needs and the most effective collection methods and technologies to meet those needs. Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.
- Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.
- Leads projects of medium to large scope. Assists in the development of project scope, fees and proposals.
- Serves as a technical resource in the application of one or more geospatial platform technologies, such as Esri, Bentley, Autodesk, and Certainty 3D. Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.
- Codes, tests, debugs and configures solutions at a moderate difficulty level. May perform peer reviews on work performed by junior staff. Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.
- Recommends enhancements or changes to technology, methodology and process standards. Interactively and incrementally improves both products and processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree
- 5 years related experience
- In lieu of education, 9 years related experience
Primary Responsibilities And Essential Functions Will Include
- Serves as the technical lead in the development, integration, and implementation of Gaming Engine Technologies for the creation of Immersive Media deliverables.
- Leads the development of Unreal Engine Blueprints and other scripts/customizations needed to support the creation of advanced Immersive Media types for both desktop, web and wearable deliverables.
- Assist HNTB and their clients in determining Immersive Media technology solutions that best meet their immediate and long-term needs. Meets with client and technology staff, as needed to define, document and implement system requirements.
- Recommends enhancements or changes to HNTB technology, methodology and process standards. Interactively and incrementally improves HNTB’s Immersive Media deliverables and processes.
- Is knowledgeable of and follows industry trends to ensure Immersive Media technology efforts align with current and future needs of our clients, as well as within our HNTB project teams.
- Assists in the development of Immersive Media’s project scopes, fees and proposals.
- Experience with the following tasks (below ) is required:
- Unreal Engine (UE5) Scene Creation
- Development of Unreal Engine Blueprints, Scripts and Customization (C++)
- Development of Gaming Engine deliverables for multiple operating systems, desktops/mobile devices, and web browser.
- Integrating disparate 3D data sources from BIM/CAD platforms
- Experience with the additional applications listed below is preferred:
- Epic Games Twinmotion
- Pixel streaming for web delivery
- Unity (C#)
- Autodesk Products (Studio Max, Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, Forge)
- Bentley Microstation (OpenRoads, OpenRail, OpenBridge, iTwin)
- ESRI
- Sketchup Pro
- Blender
