UX Researcher IV


As a UX and Human-Computer Interaction Researcher at our client's Reality Labs Research team, you will tackle some of the most exciting challenges informing new interaction methods and technologies for XR. You must be willing to learn new methods and explore creative solutions to ambiguous problems. Your toolbox should consist of a strong mixed-methods background with previous experience developing and researching in AR/VR.


Location: 100% Onsite in Redmond, WA

Responsibilities:

  • Work with researchers, engineers, designers, and PMs to identify, plan and execute mixed-methods research in future XR scenarios
  • Own the design and verification of user-centered requirements through generative and evaluative research
  • Plan and conduct systematic literature reviews, qualitative research (e.g., interviews, diary studies), surveys, and user studies (e.g., usability, wearability, perceptual science)
  • Develop new metrics and standardized tasks
  • Develop user studies in Unity and/or Unreal Engine
  • Share findings with the broader organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years experience conducting applied research involving mixed-methods research (interviews, surveys, task analysis, diary studies, usability test, perceptual research etc.)
  • 2+ years experience building AR/VR prototypes (e.g., UE4 and/or Unity)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in tailoring messages to various stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in haptics, perceptual science, robotics, or wearable device research
  • Experience analyzing quantitative data (e.g., R, Python or equivalent) and qualitative analysis (e.g., Nvivo, MaxQDA)
  • Experience using qualitative research platforms (e.g., dScout, UserZoom, lookback, Qualtrics
