Virtual/Mixed Reality Engineering Intern

As a VR/MR Engineer, you will work collaboratively and independently with highly qualified engineering professionals to develop immersive experiences for the marine environment. You will become an integral member of a team committed to delivering superior results. You'll learn how to work within the engineering team as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion.

TIMING

This position if for a summer internship at Brunswick i-Jet Lab in Research Park at Champaign, IL
  • During Summer 2023, you are expected to work a minimum of 20 in-person hours and a maximum of 40 hours per week.

AS THE VIRTUAL/MIXED REALITY ENGINEERING INTERN, YOU WILL:
  • Create interactive immersive experiences in VR/MR content utilizing Blueprint scripting language in Unreal Engine
  • Collaboratively work with other artists, engineers, UI/UX designers and programmers. Be receptive of feedback and willing to provide suggestions to the team.
  • Execute VR/MR experiences in Unreal with a focus on detail, overall artistic vision and placement in the screen
  • Adapt to varying styles, direction, and coding structure.
  • Help build Python/C++ scripts to automate simulation/visualization processes.

QUALIFICATIONS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, master’s degree, or Ph.D. in a field related to Computer Science
  • Portfolio showcasing a variety of projects involving real-time VR/MR projects.
  • Experience working with Python and C++
  • Experience working with Unity or Unreal Engine
  • Technical abilities to implement, build and maintain logic in the game engine with a focus on user experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience scripting tools for real-time engines.
  • Knowledge of game development/VR workflow, and implementation
  • Knowledge of CG rendering techniques (Raytracing, Path-Tracing, etc.)
  • Prior project experience building a game or VR/AR experience.
