Augmented Reality Camera Operator

Employer

Job Description

I'm recording a series of 1-3 minute augmented reality videos over the coming weeks to post to TikTok, https://www.tiktok.com/@the.data.guy and and am looking for a part-time person to help me record them starting on Tuesday or Wednesday April 4th or 5th around 10am for 1-2 hours in Foster City, CA. $100 for this first short session, but negotiable. Don't need people with equipment, just someone with a good eye, a newer phone, and positive mindset. I will have three other shoots spaced one week apart after this, but starting off with just one shoot to see how it goes. Possibly a more regular recording process after that depending on how it goes and how much time I can find to create more content and film.

The ideal candidate has seen my prior content on TikTok and wants to help me take the video recordings to the next level. Having a positive, energetic vibe, with film or video recording experience is really important to making this work as I'm often juggling a lot balancing the narrative with the technical components of the AR scene. So being self-sufficient with the ability to make video angle suggestions and provide feedback on takes would be really helpful. Lastly, being patient through any technical glitches, fluent in operating your phone to do screen recordings, turn off notifications, and airdrop are important. Recording AR videos will be new for pretty much everyone, so I'll be able to offer a lot of guidance, but given how many things I'll be juggling, I've found people that are self-motivated can figure it out.

The technical requirement is that the person have a newer (12, 13, 14) iPhone Pro Max, or a high-end android phone to use for recording. If you don't, I might be able to figure out a way for us to borrow one for the shoot etc, but best if you had your own. The recordings are all done with screen capture, so a high resolution screen, stable positioning (helped greatly by iOS lidar), and fast processing power are really important. We will want to test a few Flows going into 'AR' mode from a.flow.gl in the browser (XR Viewer by Mozilla on iOS) before proceeding further. This is technically how they are recorded - https://www.tiktok.com/@the.data.guy/video/6866567986363272453 I have a handheld DJI gimbal which I traditionally use with my wife's phone and can bring to the shoot. I also have some lights if needed, although for the first few I'm planning to be outside so won't be needed.

Please send me a brief bio, the phone model you will plan to use for filming and/or confirmation you've tested on a.flow.gl in AR mode, and a small tidbit on why you would be a good fit. Looking forward to working you!
