We are seeking a Optical Engineer to join our team! This position calls for a passionate self-starter seeking an opportunity to push forward near-eye display technology. We are a young, fast moving company without the typical corporate inertia. You will be encouraged to work outside of the box and to imprint your unique solutions on our next generation XR technology. We are able to move fast to prototype designs with our single point diamond turning lathe. The ideal teammate is creative, motivated, and can skillfully use first principle methods to solve complex optical problems.

• Refine and validate our current micro-optical system design and propose alternate approaches.
• Perform hands-on optical bench testing.
• Perform Zemax, or equivalent, diffractive, ray trace and physical optics simulations.
• Document design narratives and engineering analysis
• Assist with Intellectual Property filings.

Masters or PhD, Engineering or Physics, in the field of Optical Design, Imaging Optics, Lens Design, Photonics, Diffractive Optics, Freeform Optics, and Laser modulation.

• Must have a high degree of expertise with Zemax, Code V, or other optical design software.
• Mastery of lens design.
• Strong documenting and communication skills.
• Has designed and tested optical imaging devices such as Near Eye Displays.
• Working knowledge of COMSOL, Matlab, Mathmatica, or Python is a plus.
• Prefer candidates with 5+ years of experience in the industry.
• Extensive experience with analyzing imaging optics, non-imaging optics, photonics, freeform surfaces, waveguides, polarization optics, fiber optics, and diffractive optics.
• A strong background in physics and/or Optical MEMS is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
