San Diego (Onsite Only) / BXD Intern

Sony’s Business Exploration and Development (BXD) team is passionate about creating new technology, products, services, and solutions through our R&D initiatives. We’re looking for imaginative dreamers, passionate about shaping disruptive industries and contributing game-changing ideas. We are looking for a candidate who is excited to push the boundaries of technical feasibility to cultivate meaningful experiences. You are not afraid to dive deep into emerging technologies, alternative business models and innovative design to formulate ideas on how to drive new and exciting products forward.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist Engineering with R&D initiatives related to Volumetric Capture
  • Dive deep with technical leads, engineers, and QA to understand complex concepts spanning a wide range of technologies
  • Support Engineering in researching, testing and documenting advancements in HW and SW; analyze robustness and reliability
  • Support Product in creating presentations and roadmaps
  • Create media assets, including but not limited to promotional videos


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Fine Arts, Product Design or similar
  • Video editing and CAD/3D design experience; Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D
  • Experience in 3D Rendering such as Cycles or Octane Render
  • Experience creating technical product assets, such as presentations and roadmaps
  • Exceptional communication skills


Preferred Skills:


  • Experience prototyping
  • Experience with Unity and/or Unreal
  • Experience with Houdini, Maya and/or other 3D modeling software
  • Experience creating VR/AR/Mixed Reality platforms
  • Programming experience, specifically Python, JavaScript, JS Frameworks using React, Node applications
  • Experience building complex, user-focused products and/or amazing experiences
  • Affinity for metrics and data-driven decision making
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet
  • Experience with Aha! or similar roadmap software
  • Interest in and passion for photography/filmmaking


The anticipated hourly wage for this position is between $17.00 to $26.00. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base wage offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
