Examples of what the Extended Reality (XR) team is working on:


  • Creating meaningful VR training experiences for law enforcement around the country
  • Working with proprietary VR hardware and prototypes for VR law enforcement training
  • Exploring unique VR training content focusing on areas such as empathy for law enforcement and public safety
  • Pushing the limits of what VR can afford for law enforcement training simulators
  • Exploring XR design user interaction, including hand-tracking, haptics, and locomotion for law enforcement training simulators


What You Bring
  • You are a Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited program in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, VR/AR design, User Experience Research, and similar areas of focus (only open to students who are set to graduate in 2024)
  • A deep understanding of both generative and evaluative research methods such as:
    • Survey Design
    • Usability Testing
    • User Testing(Remote and in Person)
    • Competitive Analysis
    • Desk Research
  • Knowledge and experience working with virtual reality (VR) experiences and technology
  • Committed to collaboration and relationship building with stakeholders; team members, and users
  • You live and breathe all things research and can’t stop yourself thinking about how research can improve and make an impact in the world.
  • You have some past research projects available for review


What You'll Learn


  • Translating user data into actionable proposals for product improvements.
  • Improving both your generative as well as evaluative research skills by learning from Sr. UX Researchers and Product Design & Research leadership.
  • Tips and techniques for designing and facilitating (both for XR and non-XR ) user studies
  • How XR Design, Ar, Engineering & User Research teams function and work together within a company.
  • What makes a successful UX Researcher
  • User research industry best practices and approaches
  • Working closely with Product Managers, Product/UX Designer and Engineers to capture and act on user data
  • Create a great case study for your portfolio


What You’ll Do: A Typical Day


  • Meet with stakeholders to understand goals and identify areas for further exploration and evaluation
  • Understanding challenges, gaps and opportunities around law enforcement training
  • Designing studies around XR, qualitative, quantitative or a mixed method approach.
  • Understanding the psychological effects of learning in VR focusing on knowledge retention and applying skills learned in VR to real life, and empathy development
  • Listen in on a customer interviews and work with Sr. Researchers conducting them
  • Facilitate user studies by setting up users in VR headsets and moderate user testing of VR experiences in-person or remote.
  • Grab a snack from our well-stocked pantry (our offices are open, but you can work remotely as well)
  • Collaborate on writing interview scripts and surveys
  • Source and screen study participants
  • Update user personas with findings
  • Present findings to Product Designers, Engineering and Product Managers.
