Position: IT Administrator

Groove Jones, a creative technology company that produces next-generation experiences for world-class brands, specializing in Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Interactive Entertainment technologies, is currently seeking an IT Administrator to help integrate, deploy, support and maintain computer systems for our designers, artists and developers. The IT Administrator will report directly to the Director of IT. They will also work with company leadership, Head of Production, and producers when IT needs arise on specific projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day technical support for artists and developers.
• Digital Content Creation application support.
• Version Control Software application support.
• Configuring and maintaining, computer hardware, network equipment, operating systems and applications.
• Maintaining computer system security.
• Installing software updates and patches.
• Assisting the on-boarding and off-boarding of employees and contractors.
• Windows & macOS workstation deployment and administration.
• User account and software license administration.
• Assisting in building and optimizing render and compute infrastructure.
• Assisting in data backup and restoration.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in systems administration.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience installing and supporting Digital Content Creation tools commonly used in M&E like Maya, Blender, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Nuke, Adobe CC, Octane.
• Experience installing and supporting post production tools such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Avid Pro Tools.
• Experience using and/or supporting version control software like GIT and SVN.
• Knowledge of license server software such as RLM, flexLM.
• Experience supporting render farms and render management systems like Thinkbox Deadline.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud.
• Experience with Mac and Windows deployment and integration.
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers.
• Storage administration experience.
• Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell scripting experience.
• Basic understanding and practical experience implementing computer security best practices.
• General understanding of structured cabling systems.
• Experience with network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of networking including VLANs, routing and VPNs.
• General understanding of post production workflow, from set to delivery.
• Good understanding of intermediate and delivery AV file formats, framerates, containers, and codecs.
• Familiar with hardware devices and interfaces for editing workstations (broadcast monitors and TVs, I/O boxes, audio mixers, microphones, speakers).
• Ability to work with both technical and non-technical users.
• Willing to be flexible in schedule to resolve mission critical time sensitive issues when they arise.
• Occasional heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in film or commercial post production, VFX, or game development.
• Experience using and/or supporting game engines like Unity 3D and Unreal Engine
