Director of Engineering for Next-Generation Simulations Firm specializing in Aerospace and Automobiles


Hamilton Porter is actively partnered with an engineering consulting firm that designs Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Simulation devices used by government agencies for trainings and rehabilitations. They have designed a suite of immersive products that range from car driving simulators to wing-suits and parachute jumpers. Due to growth, they are looking to expand their leadership team by bringing on a Director of Engineering to oversee a cross-functional team of software and hardware engineers, contractors, and an offshore team.


You will work closely with the VP of Product to collaborate on new product development and ensure that high-quality products are built according to regulatory standards. We are looking for someone who has a product mindset, and has successfully shipped a high-complex AR/VR Simulation system. Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering staff and ensure that they meet goals and objectives
  • Recruit additional engineering staff and contractors as needed
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Consult with Head of Product and business unit leads to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization
  • Develop new products from concept to testing to production
  • Collaborate with marketing department to determine market potential for new products
  • Review project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience required.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development.
  • Software Project Management Experience
  • Vendor Contract Management Experience
  • Ability to analyze financial data and drive decision-making
  • Direct experience in at least one of 3D simulation software (Unity, Unreal or similar)
  • Experience with an Agile Environment
