GENERAL SUMMARY

Digital Catapult is looking for a Senior Immersive Technologist for our application area of Virtualisation & cyber-physical systems who will be working across Virtual, Augmented, Mixed Reality, Digital Twin and metaverse technologies. The Virtualisation & cyber-physical systems area now comprises a network of connected Advanced Media Production facilities, Immersive Labs around the UK, immersive acceleration programmes, numerous published reports and a host of strong relationships across the larger commercial players, startups, universities and government. It is an exciting time to be joining one of our highest-growth areas. This is a great role for someone with strong and demonstrable experience with immersive technologies. The ideal candidate is proactive, positive, creative, collaborative and organised.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Support technology adoption by working with and leading cross-functional teams
• Build strong internal and external relationships to effectively communicate the technology message and benefits to SME, creative teams and developers.
• Form and foster close relationships with internal and external partners to collaborate on commercial and CR&D projects
• Share expertise and communicate work in presentations, blogs or articles

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Focus primarily on digital twin and digital engineering visualization. Visualizations will focus on extended reality (XR) including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR).
• Programming, database, and analysis experience with at least three of the following: Unity (or equivalent), web visualization (Three.js, WebGL, etc.), extended reality (XR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR)
• Experience with of visualization technologies such as Unity/Unreal and the use of computer programming languages in the design, development, and testing of 2D and 3D visualization applications
• Broad technical experience with virtual or augmented reality: can demonstrate examples of projects. Wide understanding of current technology debates in the areas of virtual, augmented and mixed reality, related user experience technologies such as haptics, touch and tangible interfaces
• Strong understanding and experience of product, project and engineering methodologies
• Experience or interest in prototyping solutions using immersive technologies is essential
• Extensive experience on multiple technical projects with an emphasis on creating cutting edge digital products and innovation - ideally across different technology sectors/disciplines in commercial and CR&D
• Understanding and experience with agile methodologies
