As a part of our global research unit, our
Mixed Reality and Autonomous System group is responsible for shaping the future user experience of Bosch products by developing cutting-edge technologies and prototype systems in the field of mixed reality and robotics, including object detection, segmentation, tracking and pose estimation, 3D reconstruction and understanding, visual localization, sensor fusion, reinforcement learning, and adaptive robot control. We focus on developing innovative solutions to hard challenges in computer vision and robotics, needed for human interaction with intelligent and autonomous systems. We work with internal partners at various Bosch business units to transfer our ideas and solutions into future products. We also actively collaborate with leading groups in academia and industry to promote research ideas and publish research findings in internationally renowned conferences and journals, e.g., ICRA, IROS, RSS, CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICML, NeurIPs.
Job Description
- Conduct advanced R&D research for Cloud Robotics
- Collaborating with renown university (UC Berkeley) on scalable system robotics research
- Investigate how scalable Cloud can enhance robots with limited computational power (i.e. robotic vision, motion planning, multi-agent coordination, life-long learning, collective learning)
- Apply research results to real-world applications with high quality implementation
- Integrate the resulting system/software into existing Bosch platform
- Summarize research findings in high-quality publications and/or patent submissions
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Solid C++ programming skills, knowledge in python and/or other languages is a plus.
- Hands-on experience working with robotics systems, i.e. ROS2, MOVEIT!
- Prior Cloud computing platform experiences (ie. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is required
- Prior embedded system, distributed system, and/or system profiling experiences
- Experience in working with hardware systems including wireless connected devices, sensors such as RGBD cameras, depth sensors, IMU, etc.
- Ph.D. student or exceptional Master student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields (Must be a current student or recent graduate – less than 1 year)
Preferred Qualifications
- Publication record in top venues including ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, HRI, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS.
- Strong system programming skills, prior system architecture research, prior network or IoT research
- Real-time, embedded programming is also a plus
- Experience on developing perception algorithms, including deep learning approaches for detection, segmentation, tracking, recognition, from 2D, 2.5D, and/or 3D data
- Proficient with deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Chainer, etc.)
- Prior experiences in robotics learning, learning based motion planning, human robot interaction is a plus
- Prior experiences in robotics navigation, robotics vision, and/or Hierarchical motion planning is a plus.
- Able to work independently, has strong research and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills, experienced working with University Collaborators
Additional Information
The U.S. base salary range for this intern position is $57.00-$62.00 hourly. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, type of degree, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, type of position, job location, etc. Your Hiring Manager can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
