Background:

The team in OPPO Seattle Research Center focuses on fundamental and cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies in smart platforms (e.g., smartphones, IoT devices and robots). We are devoted to developing technologies with great potentials to positively impact people’s everyday lives in three years and beyond. The Research Interns will conduct cutting edge research at the intersection of computer vision, virtual reality, machine learning and NLP, work on practical real-world applications, and get insight into how an industry R&D center operates, while receiving mentorship and support from experienced researchers, including IEEE Fellow and ACM Distinguished Scientist.

Perform research in general AI-related projects on machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing to situation perception and decision-making.

The interns will be in charge of developing novel deep learning, computer vision and NLP algorithms and models including but not limited to the following areas:

1. 3D modeling, reconstruction, and rendering, structure from motion, multi-view geometry, photometric stereo, texture binding and mapping, 3D/4D data compression, 4D motion temporal consistency, and Virtual Reality;

2. 3D scene reconstruction and localization (e.g., visual odometry, SLAM, structure from motion), multi-sensor calibration;

3. Neural rendering and generative models;

4. 3D face/pose/body reconstruction/synthesis, human body/face parsing, hand gesture reconstruction, gaze detection, and lip movement synthesis for virtual avatars;

5. Deep learning for processing and analyzing images, videos and multimodal data, Image segmentation and object detection, unsupervised representation learning for videos/images and NLP;

6. Deep network compression and pruning for end devices;

7. Deep image/video/text content generation and editing;

8. Novel view synthesis and free-viewpoint videos;

9. Neural architecture search (NAS);

10. Transformer networks and applications to image/video/NLP;

11. Security and privacy protection for AI models.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Master or higher degree in EE, CS, ME and related areas;

2. Skillful in C/C++, pythons and other languages;

3. Hands-on experiences in developing novel deep learning, computer vision and NLP algorithms and models;

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Hands-on experiences in using pytorch and/or tensorflow to develop algorithms and models independently;

2. Have publications in top-tier conferences and journals in the related areas;

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $30-$60/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
