Snap’s Augmented Reality team invents the immersive (and fun!) camera experiences that are at the core of our products. From developing creative new Lens features for Snapchat, to supporting the continuous growth and evolution of Lens Studio (our platform for an ever-increasing community of AR creators), to designing the cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning technology that makes face transformation Lenses possible — our Augmented Reality team is working hard on their mission to bring AR to more people, places, and moments, every day.


We’re looking for an AR Engineering Intern to join our Augmented Reality team in Santa Monica, CA! As a member of the AR team, you will help build the features and infrastructure that power the world's best augmented reality platform.


What you’ll do:


  • Conceptualize and design new interactive experiences centered around the camera, and/or the tools to build them.
  • Collaborate with Creative and Engineering teams to make the most fun, surprising, and stable products possible


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to program and code interactive experiences
  • Ability to work with digital content creation tools (2D, 3D, etc.)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with high attention to details


Minimum qualifications:


  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree with a graduating date no sooner than December 2023.


Preferred qualifications:


  • Experience designing and developing highly interactive real-time experiences such as games, AR, VR, etc.
  • Expertise in designing, prototyping, and programming with real-time 3D engines (Lens Studio, Unity, Unreal, OpenFrameworks, Processing, and WebGL/OpenGL, etc.)
  • Knowledge in scripting languages like Javascript / Typescript
  • Fluency with 3D packages like Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, or Cinema4D
  • Standout creative portfolio
  • A passion for creating interactive experiences that are fun, delightful, and allow Snapchatters to communicate and express themselves in new ways


Compensation


In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.


Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $120,000. This internship position is also eligible for a housing allowance.
