ROLE OVERVIEW


PPC is looking for a Head of Business Development who can drive commercial opportunities that will help us grow revenues from our busy Immersive, Digital, and Motion Graphics Studio. This is a newly created role that is key to our growth strategy of leveraging our established creative design credentials to further our penetration into existing markets whilst also diversifying into new and emerging markets.

Our design studio is split into three main pillars of Motion Design/Animation, Print, and Digital and Immersive (AR/VR/MR/XR). The Head of Business Development will seamlessly straddle all three of these disciplines. Using their experience selling creative, digital, and design services to their own established network of relevant contacts, to our existing client base in film and entertainment, and through structured pro-activity in approaching new clients. Using their entrepreneurial flair, client relationship skills, and commercial savvy, they will be driven to grow our volumes of work across all three pillars.

At the heart of this role is an enterprising spirit, a strong predictive sense of the future possibilities of technology and storytelling, superior client handling and presentation skills, and a commitment to ensuring PPC’s design studio is perceived externally as a progressive, highly skilled and exciting vendor to work with.

The successful candidate will have a clear vision of how they can help us grow revenues and best leverage the extensive skills, infrastructure, and experience we have in our armoury. They should have a trusted network of relevant client contacts to approach from day one and be supremely confident of researching new leads, establishing contacts, pitching for projects, and closing business. A passion for the film and entertainment industries is an essential quality along with adaptability and a keen eye for spotting trends in marketing across A/V, Immersive, and Digital.

This is a Senior role at PPC, helping to grow an established division by bringing new and exciting client projects to that team.

The successful candidate will be engaged in new business development, digital, motion GFX, and immersive projects, staff management, and hiring. They will inspire others in the company across the latest technological developments available to us when creating content.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies to meet the company’s objective of growing our Immersive, Digital, and Motion Graphics Studio.
  • Conducting research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development, etc).
  • A strong sales and business development ethic to identify new partners, clients, and projects for PPC to pursue in new areas outside its traditional core work.
  • Help lead initial project set up, working with colleagues in making overall decisions about how to undertake technically demanding projects and how to staff projects to deliver at the highest standard as well as with a healthy margin.
  • Being responsible for providing client direction of specific projects, taking on the responsibility for the project partnering with a producer, tech lead, etc on client communications, and managing and/or providing guidance to the internal creative, artist, and technical team.
  • Maintain good relationships with clients to ensure their needs strategy and vision are being met.
  • Building and maintaining profitable partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Acquiring new clients and managing client relationships both new and existing.
  • Monitoring the performance of commercial activities using key metrics and preparing reports for the Technical Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven leader in new technology projects, with a broad curiosity and passion for telling stories in new ways and pushing the boundaries of technology
  • Superior new business and client management skills.
  • A genuine passion for sales and desire to attract the best projects and clients to the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate a strategic brief into a creative execution that delivers on client goals, high-quality standards, and advances PPC’s portfolio.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills across all levels, strong communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong creative and technical eye for traditional and non-traditional digital production
  • Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment whilst juggling multiple projects
  • Ability to work within and inspire a team and also under own initiative
  • Strong time management & organization skills
  • Experience with high level of broader company areas, including marketing, sales + recruitment
  • Experience with staff management including hiring, reviews, and providing consistent and constructive feedback
  • Experience and understanding of visual effects, animation, and/or gaming pipelines and workflows is preferred.
