About The Role


DigiLens is seeking a seasoned and capable Laboratory Technician to join our Materials Reliability team to help carry out formulation, materials characterization, and reliability experiments. The role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and enter the rapidly developing AR/VR/MR market. The ideal candidate will have superior organizational and attention to detail skills, learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for problem-solving.


In This Role, You Will


Responsibilities


  • Complete environmental and reliability testing.
  • Mix and characterize holographic photopolymers composed of nanoparticles and liquid crystals.
  • Weigh out the liquid and solid chemicals in a glovebox and perform routine measurements of bulk properties (e.g., viscosity, surface tension, refractive index, etc.).
  • Work with tools related to photopolymerization curing methods and optical measurement characterization.
  • Work within cross-functional teams to make optical design concepts a physical reality.
  • Gather numerical and observational data to construct clear and concise PowerPoint reports.


Position Requirements


  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment and an eagerness to learn.
  • Experience with optical materials (ceramics and polymers) and characterization methods.
  • Can follow procedures and perform experiments well.
  • Must be comfortable using computer programs and have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with delicate components.
  • Effective problem solver with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior organizational skills with samples and data.
  • Comfortable working in red-light lab environments.


Nice to Haves


  • Experience with handling and coating glass/plastic substrates.
  • Experience with reliability testing (UV, Humidity, thermal cycling, etc.).
  • Experience with conformal coatings and low WVTR sealants.
  • Understanding of photopolymerization reactions.
  • Familiarity with diffractive/holographic technology.
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams.
  • Interdisciplinary skill set and perspective.
  • Experience using JMP or Tableau.


Who You Are


  • AA degree in a Science or Engineering, B.S. in Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills.
  • Energetic, driven, and adaptable to work in a startup environment.
  • Excellent time and task management skills.
  • Natural team player with collaboration skills.
  • An effective planner who thinks ahead and anticipates.
