Job Description

We are looking for design-thinkers who are curious, highly self-motivated, and versatile to join The Mill NY as a Motion Designer.

Designers at the Mill work closely with teams of other Designers, Art Directors and Creative Directors to concept, design, and animate work. You will be given opportunities on a range of projects on teams small and large.

The Mill works in many different mediums, so we are looking for experience and an interest in multiple facets of design including typography, motion graphics animation, character animation, VR/AR/MR/XR, illustration, and 3D design & animation.

As Designer, you will begin to be exposed to clients with the support of the Head of Design, CDs, and ADs. You will be exposed to all phases of the production process, and represent a design-focused creative vision while interfacing with other Mill departments such as CG, Experiential, and Compositing.

Qualifications
  • Creating styleframes for animation concepts and pitches
  • Generating design elements for larger VFX commercial projects
  • Designing and animating solo or as part of larger global teams
  • Exceptional portfolio of work, presented both in motion and static examples
  • Previous design studio or similar experience
  • Excellent time-management and communication skills
  • Experienced in Cinema 4D, including a working knowledge of renderers such as Arnold or Redshift.
  • Skilled in Adobe suite including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Animation experience with a good sense of rhythm & timing
Pluses
  • Traditional or digital painting, illustration, and/or sculpture experience
  • Experience with X-Particles and/or Houdini
  • XR and/or realtime engine experience (Spark AR, Unreal, Unity, Touch Designer)
Additional Information

The pay range for this full-time staff position is: $80,000 per year to $120,000 per year, which is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
