We are looking for a seasoned Design Program Manager to drive operational excellence within the VROS pillar of VR Platform Design.

As the VROS Product Design team scales and the need for horizontal collaboration with teams across the org and company increases, it’s critical to continue to invest in the DPM discipline. We’re seeking an experienced Design Program Manager to drive operational excellence within the VROS pillar of VR Platform Design.

In this role, you’ll focus on building strategic and operational solutions that enable product execution at scale, partnering not only with the Design disciplines but cross functional partners as well. You’ll optimize day-to-day pillar operations, while spearheading initiatives that elevate product quality and foster culture, connections, and communication across teams.

You’ll be partnering closely with the VROS Product Design Manager and our existing team of amazing product designers, user researchers, and content designers to implement operational systems, act as a connector, and problem solve operational hurdles to enable designers to do their most impactful work.


Qualifications

1) Experience working with product teams or programs from roadmapping through delivery.

2) Experience working directly with design leadership, product designers, UX researchers, and content designers.

3) 6+ years of experience in design operations or related fields establishing programs, supporting design teams, and developing relationships.

4) Track record of operating independently and without oversight.

5) Experience leading product or business strategy in a fast-paced environment.

6) Experience managing vendors and contractors.

7) Desired: Experience working with 0 to 1 products

8) Desired: Experience working on operating systems and physical hardware.


Responsibilities

You’ll be expected to:

1) Enable teams to focus their time on designing, building and shipping great products.

2) Drive large, organization-level product initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines, multiple dependencies and many moving parts. You have experience handling complexity and navigating ambiguity. You are able to proactively assess risk, raise flags, and resolve issues before they become problems for the larger teams.

3) Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to establish effective ways of working together.

4) Identify, define and manage multi-team strategic initiatives that drive efficiency and impact, including executing specific design initiatives intended to grow team culture and industry expertise. You are able to prioritize, assess tradeoffs, propose clear solutions and communicate strategically. You are able to scale programs and initiatives when necessary and delegate effectively with clear expectations.

5) Own and facilitate meetings (e.g. standups, design critiques, design reviews, design sprints, design summits) to drive progress against goals and objectives, and establish clear next steps and owners while resolving blocks that impede progress.

6) Improve team communication, collaboration, and identify and remove roadblocks. Proactive in problem solving and effective in information distribution. You represent design in XFN processes and collaborate with XFN partners to drive operational initiatives that achieve business, product, and people goals.

7) Use persuasive communication to the right audience to get buy-in and feedback.

8) Utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills to keep our teams on track.

9) Become a sought out operations expert to the product teams.

10) Contribute best practices to the DPM discipline and share expertise with team members.

11) Define and measure impact of programs and initiatives both qualitatively and quantitatively. Continually refines and iterates to ensure usage and adoption.

12) Source and manage operational budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts
