Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in research and development in natural language processing or speech perception.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with 2 years of experience in people management.
- Experience in software development: C/C++, Java/Kotlin, or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 7 years of experience in research and development in natural language processing and/or speech perception.
- 6 years of experience in a technical leadership role, including 4 years of experience in a people management role (supervision/team leadership).
- Experience in developing augmented reality or immersive environments.

The Augmented Language team within Google AR develops user experiences that leverage advancements in devices, sensing, perception, visualization, and sound. Our mission is to make language universally accessible and understandable to enhance conversational abilities and eliminate communication barriers.
The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to improve quality and performance of speech perception and natural language understanding.
- Design and coordinate research efforts from experimental prototypes to mature technologies ready to deploy in real-time systems.
- Mentor and train other team members.
- Manage a team of researchers and software engineers, balancing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Recruit and hire talent to expand the team.
