Home Outside is a VC-backed company founded by celebrated landscape designer, Julie Moir Messervy. Her mission is to democratize sustainable landscape design. The company has launched successful digital products including a top 10 lifestyle iOS app and an automated plant pairing service with Proven Winners. Leveraging expertise in AI, AR, and landscape design, we aim to transform 50M US yards into thriving outdoor spaces that conserve over 50B lbs of carbon each year. We have been outsourcing software development with an offshore team, and are now building an in-house technical team to develop new features like shade estimation, improve the user experience, and expand the marketplace to visualize more types of products.
Role & Responsibilities
- Evaluate the existing architecture and review code base
- Refine technology roadmap and new partner requirements
- Transition engineering responsibilities to in-house team over time
- Develop placement rules and logic for landscape visualizations
- Lead engineering team to tackle new requirements, including real-time 3D yard reconstruction and rendering with WebGL
Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s in CS or relevant field
- 2+ years experience with cloud-based technical architectures, Python, and C programming skills
- Experience with spatial computing and augmented reality preferred
- Game engine development and ArcGIS knowledge are a big plus
Compensation
- Starting base salary of $120k - 140k
- Performance incentives for on-time, successful releases
